Questions people ask

Straight answers

Each funding type has its own minimums. Net-30 vendor accounts only need a registered company and an EIN. Bank lines of credit and SBA 7(a) loans usually want two years in business, steady revenue and a personal credit score in the mid 600s or better. We check your answers against those rules and sort every type into fits now, close, or later.

For the types that fit, we name a few lenders and vendors from our own lists, including our SBA lender list by state and our microlender list. We are not a lender and we do not arrange loans.

Is it free?

Yes. The tool, the report and the PDF are free, and you do not need a card to use it.

Does it check my credit?

No. There is no credit pull and we do not ask for your SSN. The tool only uses the answers you give, and nothing is sent to a credit bureau or a lender.

Who sees my answers?

Only Start My Business. We use your answers to build your report and save it in your free account so you can open it again. They are not sent to lenders or credit bureaus. See our Privacy Policy.

What happens after I finish?

Your report shows on the page right away. We email you the PDF and set up a free Start My Business account with your email, where the report is saved in Business Documents. If you checked the text box, we also text you a summary. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Will I be approved if a funding type says it fits?

Not necessarily. A fit means your answers meet the usual minimums for that type. Every lender makes its own decision, and results vary.

Why does the order of applications matter?

Business credit is built in levels. Vendor accounts report first, store and fleet accounts follow about 45 days later, and bank products look for that history. Spacing applications and spreading them across bureaus also keeps inquiries down.
